"High Summer"....Finished!

Thank you all so much for your very kind comments about this piece. It really was fun to make.

All I did to finish it up was put some cording along the edges between the central image and the lace, and between the white "mat" and the green "frame"...and then back and bind it.

I am very excited about my new Simplicity Bias Tape Maker, as this quilt's binding will be the last time I make wonky and wobbly velvet "bias tape". From now on, professional results will be mine!

Remember, this will be hanging at Quilt Market and Quilt Festival in Houston this fall, as part of the Celebrity Mini-Quilt Auction. It you are there, stop and say hi to it....

I'm off to Michigan for a week tomorrow with no internet (except a neighbor's Wifi)....back at you soon....!

Hi Allie

It is amazing what a difference the cording makes in your quilts. I don't know how to say what it does but it does something good. Does that make sense?

Have a good visit and you should get some decent weather. Our horrible heat has ended and is to be in the 70's here over Labor Day weekend.

Hugs

Ahhhh....It's beautiful Allie and all the more so because it's a piece of you and your garden in Washougal sent out into the world. The fly stitches were indeed a unifying element and bravo for finding a bias tape maker. I just saw one the other day in a quilting mag and thought to myself how much money the gal who invented it is going to make...kind of like the bobbin winder inventer...

Here's to soothing and peaceful times at Michillinda...I feel like I know that place too because of your quilting...Happy trails, xoxo Susan

This piece is my very very favorite and I wish I was going to be in Houston to bid on it...Susan is right the simplicity of the fly stitch is just perfect... And now I need a bias tape maker? Your blog is expensive... I think I had a gizmo that looked like that for my old singer...

Beautifully done, Allie! You have just the right touch with the stitching to enhance the photo -- and the cording is subtle but sets off the lace and the borders perfectly. Bravo! :-)

Looks great, Allie. That cording must serve the same purpose as the black outlining in cross stitch...pure magic! Have fun in MI; fall is the best time to visit the Midwest, we think.
