Take It Further...January, Day 3

I finished piecing the other two sides of the border then constructed my little wall-hanging (for that is what this will be). It is currently 16" X 16".
Those inner white borders are not perfect and the corners are not mitered. My Bad. But they will be covered by lace and stitching so I figured I could get away with it.

As piecing frenzies go, this was all too short-lived. But I do plan on doing another take on this using a different letter when this one is done. The concept has definite potential.

But there is another concept I am trying to refine and work with too, and many variations are in my future, esp. since I've been cranking on my bread machine A LOT over the holidays and want to keep on with it:

Turkey pepperoni, roasted garlic cloves, onion, green pepper, olives, mushrooms...cheddar, mozarella, and parmesan cheeses, all yummy enough...it is the crust that needs work. It tasted too olive-oily, had not enough salt, and I really need better pans.
The quest for the perfect pizza is part of my own personal Take It Further challenge!

Beautiful - I will be watching closely as you embellish. This will be enjoyable with those colors! As for the pizzas - take a picture and print it out on fabric. (I must still be running a temp)

You should check out a pizza stone. It is a bisk platter that you put the dough right on the stone and it makes it have just the right crunchiness. much like a pizza parlour

I see nothing wrong with the strips not being mitered. The rule I heard from some judge once was either way was fine, just be consistant & neat.

The pizza looks yummy, we had our favorite Greek pizza tonight. It's made with buttermilk in the crust.Oh what fluffy tender yumminess that is!I don't know the recipe though, it's from Pizza Plaza, our favorite little Italian restaurant.

What a fresh and beautiful colour scheme for the oncoming spring. I looked at the colours on Sharon's challenge and got a dark blue, not purple! Your interpretation makes much more sense.

Keep on with that bread and pizza making. My DH is having so much fun with the bread machine I bought him for Christmas and the house is often scented with baking bread.

Gorgeous Allison! I'm always amazed at your piecing. Am hoping someday, you might consider posting another tutorial on how you do the curved piecing. I'm looking forward to watching your progress on this one.
Are you planning on individual quilts?

Your pizza looks yummy! I don't eat much pizza but I'd love to try a tiny little bite!

Yummers... the piecing and the pizza! I second the request for a lovely, in depth, tutorial on the curved piecing. Pretty please?

I need to try some curved piecing in a cq. It adds flow to the changing fabrics.
My favorite pizza is grilled or baked chicken with steamed spinach with a marinara sauce and a mix of mozzarella and provolone to top it off. It is also great on slices of french bread and then toasted up in the oven.

Beautiful as usual, Allie. And I would like to second the suggestion of a pizza stone. It heats in the oven and then you put the pizza directly on the hot stone. You also need a pizza peel (a big wooden paddle thing) that you shape the pizza on, and then you do a quick flick of the wrist to transfer it to the stone. Theoretically anyway. Actually I've never done it, but my son does, and it really does make wonderful pizza.
Think of it as like buyin more CQ supplies :)

Seeing how much you have gotten done is making me feel really behind. Today is devoted to the challenge.

We have a nice delivery pizza place down the road-makes pizza just right for me!

Allie: Beautiful as always. Love the color scheme. I agree with not worrying about mitering those corners. Will be watching :-)

If you cook your pizza on the bottom rack it will get crispy. Getting a good crust on home made pizza is not easy, but you'll get it. The pizza stone is a good idea. I need to get one of those.

I like your new picture way better. And this new project, I'm liking it, too!

Oh how beautiful this is! I love the color combo too, I don't know what it is about purples and greens together. Ok, I lie -- one of my all time favorite flowers is the lilac so, I know exactly what it is!
