First I have to show you the new champion Tiffen!
Now 28 ounces is the weight to beat!
And here is the first harvest of what we hope will be many, many, many more....
I split these Japanese eggplant and grilled them, added a tiny bit of olive oil and balsamic vinegar...just so yummy!
So now on to Vintage Flower #12. I was trying to depict some lavender...I like the flowers o.k. but the leaves came out a little bushy.
I guess I was going for the "feel" of the plant (mine are very thick and bushy) rather than an accurate portrayal.... ;-)
Our heat wave has finally broken. Phew!
Love the lavender, even if it is bushy--it's very, very healthy!
ReplyDeleteNice looking veggies! I covet the eggplants, I don't know how I forgot to plant that this year. Thank goodness for farmers market!

That is a gorgeous tomato.
ReplyDeleteLoving your lavender. :)
It definitely looks like lavender to me, and it looks like mine. We are also growing japanese eggplant, first time for us. The purple stems, flowers and fruit are amazing visually.
ReplyDeleteLoving the lavender. My book club just finished reading a book about a woman who ran a lavender farm in Texas...it makes me want to start my own farm. I think your version may be a better option for me. Congrats on Big Tom Tomato...I can see he's struttin' his stuff and doing some chest thumpin' over there in tomato-ville...WTWF...come on, you can figure it out...

ReplyDeleteI like the lavender bushy like that. You have enough on top with the high piece offsetting the lower. does that make sense?
How Harv would love that tomato. He will eat anything in a sandwich as long as he has his sliced tomato on it - except peanut butter I guess.

Lavendar is one of my favorites and although the leaves may be a little bushy, your block still looks great.
ReplyDeleteI thought our heat wave was never going to end. We're back to temperatures in the 70's and 80's and that is just fine with me. LOL I'm finally back in my sewing room.
Your lavender is great, What an amazing tomato.
ReplyDeleteAmazing harvests from your garden!
ReplyDeleteMy lavender always had the bushy feel to it too!
Wow! What a tomato!
ReplyDeleteI like the bushy lavender. If it looks like what you grown, it is good enough.
Hmmm, fresh tomato from the garden, beautiful, the Japanese eggplant sound delicious that way, I just happen to have bought some at a produce stand yesterday.
ReplyDeleteYou just keep outdoing yourself with the flowers on the blocks, I love this one.
Beautiful lavender. I'm glad you included one of my favorite flowers.
ReplyDeleteYour harvest is truly impressive. You'll be doing a lot of tasty and healthy eating.
You'll never find a tomato like that in any store, Allie! Our weather's back to normal, but obviously your tomatoes loved the heat. Our clematis which blooms in the fall has passed the second story and is up to the roof; it seems to have liked the heat also.
ReplyDeleteLove your lavender stitching..looks just like my bush!
Sometimes in the embellishment, I think "effect" is better than botanically correct. I'd be in big trouble if they had to be perfect. I, too, covet that eggplant. The book about a lavendar farm in Texas must be fiction. It's too hot to live here, and no rain in many months.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have some relief from the heat. It was 89ยบ at 10:00 pm last night. We are now being advised to cut back on energy consumption from 3-7 pm since we are getting close to the max usage in Houston (we follow Houston generally in practices). Water usage is being monitored since June. It's hot!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your garden is keeping you plenty busy! Lovely produce.
They totally "read" as lavender... Yay!!!
ReplyDeleteYour tomato and eggplants make me want to garden (and I have the world's most un-green thumb)!
Yeahhhhh, so glad the heat wave is over... although... it was 54 degree's on Saturday and we had an activity for the kids from Church... it was supposed to be an outdoor water activity.... brrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Nope, we changed it to inside... guess I should have made cinnamin rolls instead of just keeping the otter pops!
ReplyDeleteHow great your tomatoes are, boy if they all come out that large... your harvest will be tremendous!!!
The flowers are great... deep sighhhhhhhh... very pretty!
