I've enjoyed beading these butterflies so much that I added one more to my Spring CQ.
As with the other two, this design is adapted from Sande Abel.
This one was beaded as I sat at a card table outside under the dogwood tree....in our positively glorious May weather.
As soon as it was finished, it couldn't wait to fly into the garden with its friends!
Allie--you do glorious work. Your blog is a stop everyday for me, even though I practice other forms of needlework (counted, freestyle, Japanese embroidery). I love your sense of color and design and one day soon I'm going to dip my toes into a crazy quilt block...after I talk nice to my sewing machine. :-) Thank you for your faithful posting and the truly beautiful spirit that is evident in both your words and your work.

I love the butterfly. You seem to work so fast! I too would like to know about the hummingbird. We have 3 different coming to our feeders and I love to watch them. We have Anna's (like yours), Costas and Black Chins.
ReplyDeleteThe hummingbird was sewn by Debra Spincic onto organza with her computer embroidery machine.
ReplyDeleteShe will be selling her embroidered motifs on her new Etsy shop which opens June 1.

Love the butterfy and the piece it's on. I was going to ask you about the hummingbird, now I don't have to.
ReplyDeleteIs there a method in deciding where to place certain pieces?
ReplyDeleteWow. Another stunning piece! Really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNice! You're right, this is definitely butterfly weather and time to be outside! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful! I really enjoy your blog and admire the gorgeous work you do. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBeading is such fun, isn't it? I enjoy it for the same reason I enjoy metal thread embroidery--its small scale. The golden butterfly is an artful addition to another masterpiece.
ReplyDeleteReally shaping up! and so pretty from every angle!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely shaping up! The butterflies add another living dimension to the work.
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous!and I'm with the majority, how about that hummingbird??
