Beading the Border Blocks, Part 1

To keep the overall texture consistent on the crazy pieced areas of my quilt, I decided the border blocks had to be beaded. So I have begun the slow march around the perimeter of my "H" quilt. A-beading I must go! This is a time for discipline and perseverance!
What I really want to do is play with all my (as yet untouched) new supplies from Houston, which are imploring me to use them from a nearby table.
However, committment is committment!

I am varying the size and spacing of the beads in the border blocks as I did in the central section.

It was fun putting that flag in there for the Old Marine.

That little gold fan opens and shuts...it is interactive!
These pictures constitute only one quarter of the border blocks to be beaded. I need to watch a looonnngggggg mini-series to get me through this. Any suggestions?

My eventual reward!...
Many of these supplies were given to me by their manufacturers in order for me to review them for CQMagOnline next year, and to create samples using them for their booths. I wouldn't have been able to go this insane with my credit card....
Isn't that flocked fabric on the right cool? It is felt made from recycled water bottles!

So I am motivated to finish this beading.....

  1. There are some great tv shows out on dvd. My favs are Sopranos, Battlestar Galetica (the new series, my hubby's influence on me), Deadwood is fantastic (if you can tolerate the foul language) and one I just started getting into Weeds (Showtime). We signed up for Netflix and now have a steady stream of movies coming in the mail.

  2. The H is more beautiful each time you show it and that's a wonderful incentive to finish.

  3. Much to my dismay, I have not used the supplies I bought in 2006 from IQF so I was very, very frugal this year--well, if you call buying a quilting machine frugal! ;-)

  4. Okay, you're right. The border blocks needed beading. LOL! It's looking wonderful, and I love the special touches like the flag and the fan.

I know you will have a great time playing with all those delectable freebies. Hey, it pays to be press! =)

  5. Your beaded blocks are just yummy. I second the motion on Weeds. My dd and I have been watching it in spurts and we both love it.

  6. Bones is a blast-worth it for David Boreanaz alone. Were you standing on a chair for that last picture ; - ) ? What fabulous supplies to keep you going. Love the aboriginal print fabric..
Keep that beading going. It's gorgeous.

  7. Beautiful- I definitely need to get back to CQ in needlepoint. I see on one block that you replaced the motif with a little flag!!! I like that touch. The beads are a splendid finish for this project.

  8. So much beading... have you seen Firefly? It's a good Sci-Fi(cancelled, of course) series. How about a nice long bout of Pride & Prejudice (the Colin Firth version, of course)? This is truly a spectacular quilt.

  9. You should invest in Sharpe's Rifles - outstanding series of movies taking place in Spain when they were fighting to oust the French. Sharpe was an Englishman.

  10. Two old favorite series of mine are The Pallisers from the 1970s and Brideshead Revisited from the 1980s. Gorgeous BBC period productions.

  11. My oh my, this is going to be one spectacular quilt - it already is! I have recently started watching the BBC TV series, Prime Suspect, and think it's great. I believe it started in the early 90s, so there are LOTS of installments. NetFlix is the way to go if you love movies and series TV (like me).

  12. Oooh -- the H is just lovely. But you are much more disciplined than I am. If I had all of those goodies waiting for me to play with them I don't know if I would be able to resist!
