Paul over at BibliOdyssey posts the most outrageous imagery from all kinds of rare books. Heaven knows what his sources are...
But his botanicals just thrill me, and I used one as the basis for my Take A Stitch Tuesday this week. After I printed this flower on some silk charmeus, I just wanted to see what adding a textured background behind it would look like...and I used the cross stitch for that.
The part I like best is the way the stitches get larger the farther they are out from the flower. Otherwise, I think this was kind of weird....
Allison, I think it's gorgeous. I am going to check this place out!!
ReplyDeleteI actually like this quite a lot too.
ReplyDeleteIt is rather weird in its simplicity, but as usual, you have done something imaginative with it. Actually very pretty. It gives me an idea. Hmmmm I'm off to take pics of the redbud trees blooming - will send them to you. jah
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job. It's very unusual and pretty.
ReplyDelete"weird" has it's place....I too love how the stitches increase in size with the space inbetween widening...a neat effect!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe flower is just popping out the fabric. Great job, Allie!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll have a try to printing on fabric one of these days. Somebody sent me to sheets of prepaired fabrics to print on...
Your work is such an inspiration!
