Nous Allons Paris!

What an amazing thing has happened!

Never in my wildest dreams did I think my entry to this contest, "Tell Us Your Story for a Chance to Experience Ours" that DMC presented last fall would win....but it tied for the Grand Prize, so they are sending both of us winners to Paris for a WEEK, each of us with a guest.  A highlight of the trip will be a train ride to Mulhouse, 3 1/2 hours from Paris in the Alsace region, to get a tour of the DMC factory...and a special chance to view their needlework archives. 

My sister is coming with me, and we are over the moon.

We're going in September, and I will be blogging all about it!

    Oh how fabulous for you! Please take pictures in the needlework archives for your blog, if they will permit it. I had the opportunity a couple of years ago to have a private tour of the textile archives of Pierre Frey in Paris, and they had the most fantastic collection of antique textiles imaginable. I saw lots of gorgeous hand-embroidered 18th century garments and religious vestments for sale in the Paris flea market, Marche aux Puce. I can only imagine what treasures would be guarded in the needlework archives of DMC. And I can't imagine anyone more deserving of this opportunity and this trip. CONGRATULATIONS! :-)

    I just read your winning entry on the DMC site and then googled your name and found your blog. That was such a beautiful piece of writing (and the format with the photos and running stitch was so clever). I just wanted to tell you that I really loved it! Congratulations!!!!
