Vintage CQ...Flower #5

I love my Tsukineko inks....

They are just the thing to get the specific colors I want on a small amount of lace....

...for the fifth block in the series...;-)

What an excellent idea. Thanks for the tip!

How cool is that? You have to admit these sorts of projects are great because you really have to figure out how many different ways you know how to make little flower on black.

I have so enjoyed following your work on this project. This quilt is going to be spectacular. Love all the flowers you've added so far. Can't wait to see what type of flower you do next.

Very lovely. I must confess to being scared of painting fabric.... :)

Oooh yeah, and so much prettier and more colorful than simply dyed lace. Good goin!

Great idea! I have a ton of white trims that I got from a lady that made wedding gowns. Why didn't I think of this?

Those swirly curvy petals ROCK!!

I meant "leaves" not petals...

Great movement in the leaves, and very clever lace painting for the flowers.

#5 is my favorite so far (although I do love those rick-rack posies) because of the ink coloring. (Oh mercy, now there's something else on my wish list.) And Susan's right about the leaves!

I've been busy with my brother and other stuff, so just caught up on about a dozen of your posts. Looking at these blocks on your design wall, I hardly could focus on the pinwheels, seeing only the black stars. With the flowers in each one to "tone it up" a bit, do you think the pinwheels will be more obvious? Luscious fabrics for all! I look forward to seeing more... and more garden shots too. Cheers and hugs, Robin

This one is truly a work of art - very clever with the inks! You keep getting better when I think it's not possible.

Hello Allie, you are such an amazing artist. Reading your post are like reading an art book. I love all your creative flowers. I also love you flower gardens and your wonderful "Big" veggie garden. How do you find the time to do it all. Hugs Judy

Hello Allie, I've just been watching your lace colouring on QNNtv and love what you do. It made me think about some lace dying I did at a workshop in one of our Quilt Shows in Sydney, Austtalia. They also do inks and paints specifically for lace and thought you might be interested. In particular their Persian gold can be used to give an antique look to the lace which is quite spectacular and would look amazing on your work. Their web address is http://www.starrlace.com.au/products/14 if you would like to have a look. Their laces are beautiful also.
