What else could "My Quilts/Our History" be about for me personally?
My entry for this contest is going to have a portrait of the home I have lived in for the past 16 years, framed by the garden and the hills, set into a border embellished with flowers.
Certainly this place has been the inspiration for all of my quilts since we moved here....
This photograph was taken four years ago, before the deer fence changed the view of the garden...I have printed it onto cotton sateen and am now embroidering it. This is really a "paint by numbers" kind of deal...
It is really fun to try to find the right colors, weights of thread, and stitches to enhance the image, although some of the stitching is awfully teeny-tiny!

That is a beautiful view! I can't wait to see the finished piece!!
Glorious-what a wonderful way to record history.
I had to click on the picture to work out it was already printed on the fabric. Have fun.
It looks like a piece of heaven! With your talent and the love you have for the picture, it is going to be a succes!
Washington IS a pretty state, isn't it? (Especially in the sunshine!) Do you use your own fabric for these prints? If so, what do you do to prepare them for printing?
This will be a stunning block!
that's going to be spectacular! do post progress photos from time to time for us, eh?
What a wonderful home! and the surroundings are the kind that feed the soul and inspire the artist.
Do you use a regular printer to print on fabric? That would be fantastic, I'm just a tiny bit apprehensive of getting the whole printer jammed with fabric.
What a beautiful place you live in.
ooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh, my mouth is hanging open and there may be some drool on the desk here...... that is ONE GORGEOUS place to live!!!!!!!! Can you adopt me? I can sew and cook!
This already looks like a lovely painting. I'm sure your stitches will only make it even more beautiful. I can't imagine that anything else could win over your work. Good luck.I'm rootin' for you!
I echo the questions on how to print on fabric and what works best for you. I have learned so much from you. Will you walk us through how to best do the process? I feel like I am teetering on the brink of a whole new discovery. It is fun to work on purchased patterns, etc., but how much more fulfilling to work on your very own creations, especially when the work is so close to your heart.
